Vicky reflected on the film’s arrival on Netflix and said, “Playing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was an honour beyond words and one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career. With Netflix, we’re ensuring that his story not only penetrates deeper in India but also gets the global platform it deserves.” Producer Dinesh Vajan described the film as “a labour of love and an emotional journey.”
Chhaava is currently the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s net collection in India is Rs 599.72 crore. The movie’s worldwide gross collection stands at Rs 790.14 crore. It also achieved the feats of being Vicky Kaushal’s highest grosser and the highest-grossing film on Valentine’s Day, earning Rs. 19.40 crore, a record that was previously held by Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Divya Dutta, Ashutosh Rana, Neil Bhoopalam and Diana Penty in pivotal roles. Khanna’s portrayal of Aurangzeb, in particular, garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and the audience. AR Rahman, who has worked on historical dramas before, also delivered an impressive soundtrack which does not overpower the narrative and goes hand in hand with the crests and troughs.
